With this workshop and exhibition we celebrated our first six months of activities of the Youth Council Benčić. Prior to the workshops, we prepared a poster and flyer for the exhibition, which the children suggested proposals of during the workshop in December. Then they prepared a proposal for the exhibition and a list of materials they created during all the workshops. Educator Milica Đilas of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art joined us and children presented their proposals of exhibition setup and presented our materials. In cooperation with her we defined the exhibition layout as well as the public: a targeted group of visitors we wanted to reach. With the visitors in mind, the children created three interactive corners of the exhibition: a painting area, a wall of impressions to leave your mark on, and a desk with a typewriter, where visitors could write a review. So we could relay our experiences better to the visitors, the children decided to write their impressions of the workshops during a short writing workshop with Milica. They wrote for each workshop what they thought was special, the best or the worst, and we printed those impressions as labels. Together we put them on the walls accompanying photographs for the exhibition.
The exhibition was set up so that on the entrance there was a promotional video of the project. Then the visitor was led into a larger space in which they were presented with two workshops – Leave Your Trace and Behind the Scenes. The windowpanes were decorated with some of the children’s costumes from the film Preuzmimo Benčić. The next room was dedicated to the Summer School By Railway…. The works were set in such a way that the room resembled a waiting room for the train. In the last room we presented the workshop Galeb with the film, photographs, and scenarios that kids wrote for the film.
The opening was planned so that visitors can experience and understand the flow and inspiration project. First, we organized a screening of the film Preuzmimo Benčić by Canadian artist Althea Thauberger. The children presented to the visitors BYC project from concept to workshops (having earlier decided what they wanted to say to the audience, divided the roles and wrote their speeches) and gave letters of thanks to all our collaborators. Following the presentations, a reception followed with refreshments and music. The exhibition meant that council experienced what it’s like to be the creator of cultural content, and how much effort and knowledge is required and invested in setting up an exhibition.
Ovom radionicom i izložbom obilježili smo šest mjeseci djelovanja Vijeća mladih Benčić. Prije same radionice pripremili smo plakat i letak za izložbu za kojeg su prijedloge davala djeca na radionici u prosincu. Tada su i pripremili prijedloge postava izložbe te popis materijala stvorenog tokom svih radionica.
U subotu, prvi dan, započeli smo sa prisjećanjem što smo radili na prošloj radionici te smo pregedali sav materijal. Pridružila nam se muzejska pedagoginja Milica Đilas kojoj su djeca izložila svoje prijedloge postava, te prezentirali svoje radove. S njom u suradnji definirali smo postav izložbe te ciljane skupine posjetitelja kojima se obraćamo. Djeca su razmišljajući o posjetiteljima osmislila tri interaktivna kutka izložbe:
• kulisa – slikanje
• zid dojmova – ostavi svoj trag
• radni stol s pisaćom mašinom – napiši dojam
Da bi posjetiteljima približili svoja iskustva s Milicom smo napravili kratku radionicu pisanja. Djeca su za svaku pojedinu radionicu napisala što im je bilo posebno, najbolje ili najgore, te smo te dojmove zalijepili na zidove uz fotografije pripadajuće izložbe.
Izložba je bila postavljena tako da je na ulazu bio promotivni video projekta. Zatim se ulazilo u veći prostor u kojemu su bile prezentirane dvije radionice – „Ostavi svoj trag“ i „Iza kulise“. U prozorskim oknima bili su izloženi kostimi djece s filma „Preuzmimo Benčić“. U prostoriji u nastavku bila je prezentirana Ljetna škola „Željeznicom…“. Radovi su bili postavljeni na način da prostorija podsjeća na čekaonicu za vlak. U zadnjoj prostoriji prezentirali smo radionicu „Galeb“ s filmom, te obješenim fotografijama i scenarijima.
Drugi dan radionice posvetili smo završavanju radova i planiranju otvorenja. Djeca su odlučila što žele reći publici te su podijelila svoja zaduženja i napisali govore.
Otvorenje je planirano tako da posjetitelji mogu doživjeti i shvatiti tijek i inspiraciju projekta. U 17:00 sati organizirali smo projekciju filma „Preuzmimo Benčić“ s redateljicom Altheom Thauberger. U 18:00 sati djeca su posjetiteljima prezentirala projekt, od ideje do radionica, te podijelila zahvalnice brojnim suradnicima. U 19:00 sati organizirali smo zakusku i druženje uz glazbu.
Cilj ove radionice bio je, osim da prezentiramo rad VMB, i da djeca iskuse kako je to biti kreator kulturnog sadržaja, te koliko se truda i znanja mora uložiti u postavljanje jedne izložbe.
