What is Slow Food? A grassroots organization that promotes good, clean and fair food. Initially founded in 1986 in Italy by Carlo Petrini, the Slow Food movement aimed to fight fast food when the first McDonald’s was built in Italy. Since then it is has spread worldwide with over 100,000 members in 160 countries. What is Slow Food Ark of Taste? Ark of taste is a catalogue of foods at risk of disappearing that are a part of the cultures and traditions of the entire world. There are currently 4482 Ark of Taste products in the world. The overall objective is not to create a seed bank but to rediscover and give value to these resources in order to support local economies.
