Marlene Creates and Don McKay welcome you to a celebration reception of their residency and a final presentation of the projects that they have been working on during their time as the Eastern-Comma Writers & Artists in Residence.
Marlene Creates and Don McKay will present some of the photographs and poems they have been creating during their residency at the rare Charitable Research Reserve for the past two months. These are offered as tributes to the dead trees in the rare reserve, which are considered as individual organisms and as participants in the larger processes of the ecosystem. Some of the poems deal with particular agents of decomposition, like Turkey Vultures, Pileated Woodpeckers, and People.
